Introduction

A one-day taster session introducing the basics of bushcraft. This course aims to spark interest in woodland skills and craft, empowering participants with the confidence to delve deeper and develop their knowledge further on one of our more advanced courses.

Come and spend the day immersed in a majestic beech woodland with an experienced bushcraft instructor and dip your toe into the world of bushcraft.

The day will be spent trying your hand in an array of woodland activities. Use an variety of different lighting methods to create your own fire and cook a small tasty snack; work as a team to build a natural shelter from what the forest proves us with; learn about trees and plants that we pass each day and finally sit around a warm fire with a hot brew and learn how to carve your own unique butter knife.

The course is aimed at people with little or no experience in bushcraft, or people who need a refresher at a relaxed and supported pace. Our courses are renowned for being fun and informative without any pressure, and our experienced instructors will provide you with hands-on practical guidance at every step.

The course will include the fundamentals of bushcraft and will also encompass many other learning aspects found when spending time in a woodland environment. You will:

  • learn how to build an emergency shelter using natural materials from your surroundings.
  • discover the skills needed to make a fire in a variety of methods, including how to select materials and find ignition sources from the woods.
  • gain experience in using a bushcraft knife and learn how to look after it.
